This is one of the best questions ever, if not the best one, in my humble opinion.
What are you unwilling to feel? so much that you will unconsciously repress that feeling and bury it deep down in yourself, so you can forget about it, and do like it never existed in the first place.
What is happening then?
2 main options: worst case scenario, and best case scenario. of course there all the other options in between.
Worst case scenario
It comes back to the surface later and you will have to deal with it then, and you are likely to repress it again, because over time it hasn’t become easier to feel, and you are still unwilling to feel it. Eventually, if it’s never felt, expressed ( literally pushed out or allowed out ), it will create some sort of problem in your body, some pain, some tension, some disease. And then you will be forced to address it. What most people do in that case, unfortunately, is to go to the doctor, who will do something to erase the symptom, but rarely address the root cause of it, which is the only way to heal it.
Then you are back to the first step, you will have to reconnect to this feeling you have repressed. if the feeling has been repressed long enough though, it might just be impossible to reconnect with it without some serious help from a practitioner that will work on the energy and the deeper layers of these feelings.
Best case scenario
When you notice something you feel, stay with it, even if it’s uncomfortable, even of it’s not easy and you get emotional. Express what you feel, literally let that feeling be felt and go out of your body, let it go, so it’s not in yourself any longer, it’s not yours anymore, you release it to the Universe that will recycle it naturally.
I know it’s not easy to do mainly because nothing is encouraging or supporting us to do so in our “normal” daily lives. In order to be able to do so, you will have to create a special time and space to stay with yourself and feel, most of the time we call it meditation, it’s that special time only for yourself.
I have included it in my morning routine and the benefits have been immediate, to the point it has become a new habit and I just cannot miss this special time for myself.
